Spring Lake, N.C. — Cumberland County police arrested and charged Jeffrey Lynne McKinnon, Jr. with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Jennifer Foxx, who was found Tuesday morning near her Fayetteville home.

McKinnon is being held the Cumberland County Jail to remain without bond until his first appearance in court on March 27.

Foxx was found shot to death near N.C. Highway 210 in Spring Lake, according to Fayetteville police.

Law enforcement officers were at the Carolina Sands Mobile Home Park around 8:15 a.m. at the intersection of N.C. 210 and Britania Road. Jennifer Foxx, 34, was found in a pool of blood.

Foxx’s friend, who did not want to be identified, made the gruesome discovery.

“I was just coming to go to work, and Jennifer was just lying on the side of the road, so I stopped my car and got out,” she said. “She just had blood all over her, and her lips were blue, so I called the police.”

Family members said that Foxx was kidnapped and attacked during a domestic violence incident in December.

“I’m sure something or someone in her history is going to play into her being a victim here, but right now, I know nothing of her past history,” said Sean Swain, a spokesman with the sheriff’s department.
