The Pistons selected Kennard 12th overall in the 2017 NBA Draft, making him the Draft-record 22nd lottery pick from the Duke program. He was one of the nation’s breakout players as a sophomore at Duke in 2016-17, leading the team in scoring on his way to consensus second-team All-America honors.

He averaged 17.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists with Detroit’s team in the Orlando Summer League last week.

The Franklin, Ohio, native joined Scheyer to talk about the emotions of draft night, his first days as a professional basketball player and their head-to-head H-O-R-S-E competitions, among other topics.

This week’s current player segment features incoming freshman Gary Trent, Jr. A native of Columbus, Ohio, who played three years of high school basketball in Minnesota before spending his senior year at Prolific Prep (Calif.), Trent was a McDonald’s All-American and the inaugural Allen Iverson National Player of the Year in 2017.
