ST. PAULS — Noah Wheeler scored four first-quarter touchdowns and St. Pauls put 41 points on the board in the opening period en route to a 55-28 rout of West Bladen in a Three Rivers 2-A/1-A game Friday night.
Wheeler scored from 22, 5, 1 and 6 yards in the first quarter of the blowout, then added two more in the fourth as the Bulldogs improved to 5-4, 5-2. Marquiese Coleman, B.J. Drake and Caleb Inman, on a 35-yard pass from Wheeler, also scored in the opening 12 minutes. Wheeler finished with 186 yards rushing and 138 yards passing.
• Whiteville 57, West Columbus 0 — Ty Moss threw for 155 yards and touchdowns to three receivers in the Three Rivers blowout. The Wolfpack improved to 8-1 and 5-1 heading into next Friday’s home game against St. Pauls.
• Seventy-First 41, Purnell Swett 12 —The Falcons blew open a game that was 13-6 at the half, scoring 28 points in the final two quarters for a Sandhills 4-A win. Devante Wedlock had a pair of touchdowns in the victory, and teammate Favion Jones’ 155 yards rushing included a 96-yard dash that was the final TD of the contest.
