SATURDAY REWIND: Pittsburgh 24, Duke 17
Pittsburgh running back Darrin Hall rushed for 254 yards and three touchdowns to guide the visiting Panthers past Duke, 24-17, at Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium.
The Blue Devils used a pair of scoring tosses from Daniel Jones in third period to turn a 7-3 halftime deficit into a 17-7 advantage, but Pittsburgh scored the game’s final 17 points to claim the victory. On its final offensive possession, Duke drove to the Panther 22 yard line but Pitt safety Jordan Whitehead intercepted a tipped ball with 45 seconds on the clock to seal the win.
Hall had scoring runs of 79, 92 and four yards on the afternoon.
Jones threw for 272 yards and two scores while T.J. Rahming had eight receptions for 142 yards, including a 39-yard touchdown catch.
“I think whoever lines up with T.J. is a matchup that is good for us with his quickness and speed,” Jones said. “He’s a special player. I have a lot of trust in what he’s able to do.
