Raleigh, NC (Jan. 10) – Head Football Coach Tim Chavous of Saint Augustine’s University has been accepted to attend the NCAA-NFL Coaches Academy, which will be held Feb. 7-8 at the Westin Tampa Bay Hotel in Tampa, Fla.
Chavous is one of 30 college football coaches across the nation who will participate in the academy, which provides full-time NCAA and NFL coaches the opportunity to expand their knowledge and insight in the college football coaching profession.
The academy was developed in 2011 as a collaborative effort between NCAA leadership development and NFL Player Engagement to boost diversity in the college game. The invitees from NCAA member schools are coaches who have fewer than eight years of college coaching experience. The college coaches will learn and network with NCAA athletics administrators, NCAA national office staff, current and former NFL players, NFL directors of player personnel and NFL Player Engagement staff.
Chavous just completed his sixth football season at Saint Augustine’s University including his second as full-time head coach. In 2017, he directed the Falcons to one of their best seasons in recent years. The Falcons tied Fayetteville State University for the best conference mark (5-2) in the CIAA Southern Division and posted a .500 or better percentage record (5-5) for the first time since 2012.
