Andrew Jayne has never played for a team that didn’t include his twin brother, Christian.
“Baseball, football, basketball — everything growing up,” Andrew said.
As part of the Terry Sanford football team, Andrew has been Christian’s top target, totalling 147 receptions for 2,263 yards and 26 touchdowns, making him the most successful receiver in Bulldog football history.
Their time sharing a field is almost up. On Wednesday, as part of National Signing Day, Andrew signed a National Letter of Intent to play football for Davidson College, making official s recent verbal commitment.
The move will take him to the other side of the state from Christian, who is an East Carolina baseball signee.
“I had Davidson that summer when he committed to ECU, and I’m happy for him.” Andrew said. “It’s Davidson for me. I’m glad football’s in the fall, and he’s (playing baseball) in the spring. So hopefully, I can go out and see him, and he can come see me.”
Andrew’s mother, Katrina Jayne, said the family has been asked frequently about the brothers’ looming departure, not only from the family’s home, where they are the youngest of four boys, but from each other.
