After fighting back from an eight-point deficit in the fourth quarter to force overtime, No. 3 seed Westover fell to No. 6 E.E. Smith 58-56 on Tuesday night in the first round of the Patriot Athletic Conference boys’ basketball tournament.

Playing at Overhills, the Wolverines (19-5) made just one shot from the field and went 0-for-4 from the foul line in overtime.

Keondre Fryar made three free throws in OT for the Golden Bulls (7-17), with Isaac Bonds adding another to seal the win.

Smith will play No. 2 Overhills, which held off No. 7 South View 72-64, at Terry Sanford on Thursday in the semifinals.

The other PAC semifinal pits No. 4 Pine Forest against No. 1 Terry Sanford.

The championship will be played Friday at the highest remaining seed.
