These standards evaluate how well a budget functions as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a tool for communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis achievement would not have been possible without the vision and leadership of the Board of Commissioners, whose commitment to sound fiscal management sets the foundation for our success,\u201d said Cumberland County Assistant Manager and Chief Budget &amp; Performance Officer Deborah Shaw. \u201cI also extend my gratitude to the County Manager for his continued support and guidance throughout the budget process. Most importantly, this award reflects the dedication and hard work of our exceptional Budget and Performance team.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Budget documents must be rated \u201cproficient\u201d in all four categories, and in the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m proud that Cumberland County has earned this prestigious recognition for the third consecutive year,\u201d said Cumberland County Board of Commissioners Chairman Kirk deViere. \u201cThis award reflects our ongoing commitment to transparency, accountability and excellence in the ways we manage taxpayer resources. It\u2019s a testament to the dedication of our staff who work to ensure our budget is a clear, effective tool for guiding the County\u2019s priorities and operations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are more than 1,900 participants in the Budget Awards Program. The most recent Budget Award recipients, along with their corresponding budget documents, are posted quarterly on GFOA&#8217;s website at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/cumberlandcountync.us14.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=ff4ef865cd51b3e2a3bfd524f&amp;id=e9cdfa03e8&amp;e=de2e9191c0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gfoa.org<\/a>.
