The Bootleg Kev Show
The Bootleg Kev Show is a syndicated powerhouse in Hip-Hop and Rhythmic/CHR radio, delivering six hours of raw, unfiltered energy every weekday overnight (12AM–6AM ET) that stands out as one of the most authentic and engaging programs in the format—exclusively on Fayetteville’s WCCG 104.5 FM for local listeners craving that late-night vibe. Hosted by veteran DJ and hip-hop aficionado Bootleg Kev, alongside comedian and co-host James Andre Jefferson Jr. (known for his sharp wit and crowd-pleasing roasts) and producer DJ Sam I Am (who keeps the beats dropping and the flow seamless), the show is part of its broader national reach through Premiere Networks (an iHeartMedia company), but on WCCG, it slots perfectly into the graveyard shift to keep the city buzzing when the streets quiet down.
What sets The Bootleg Kev Show apart is its no-holds-barred dive into hip-hop culture, where Kev—described as someone who “eats, sleeps, and breathes the hip-hop lifestyle”—leverages his decades-long relationships with A-listers to score exclusive interviews and freestyles that feel like backroom chats rather than scripted promos. The energy is high-octane yet relatable, mixing the hottest current tracks (from rising stars to chart-toppers) with hilarious, debate-sparking conversations on pop culture, sports drama, viral memes, and everyday absurdities—ideal for night owls, shift workers, or anyone grinding through the wee hours. Listener interaction is at the core: Callers flood the lines to weigh in on hot takes, share stories, or get roasted by the crew, turning every broadcast into a communal hangout. The show’s social media game is elite, too—affiliates like WCCG get ready-to-post clips of freestyles, bits, and guest moments that amplify engagement across TikTok, Instagram, and X, fostering a loyal fanbase that tunes in for the laughs as much as the music.
Key segments keep the momentum rolling and the audience hooked:
- No Cap News: A rapid-fire roundup of the day’s wildest headlines, rumors, and hip-hop beefs, dissected with zero filter—think breaking down celebrity scandals or sports trades with comedic flair and real talk.
- Artist Spotlights & Freestyles: Kev pulls strings for unannounced drops from heavyweights like Wiz Khalifa, Rick Ross, Big Sean, Rich Homie Quan, or Lloyd Banks, often leading to impromptu freestyles that go viral.
- Pop Culture Debates: The trio dives into trending topics—like relationship drama, movie takes, or “what’s the best diss track?”—with James Jefferson Jr.’s stand-up timing adding punchlines that land every time.
- Listener Confessions & Calls: Open lines for anonymous stories, advice requests, or shoutouts, where DJ Sam I Am layers in custom mixes to soundtrack the chaos.
- Weekend Mix Extension: On Saturdays and Sundays (typically 7PM–9PM ET nationally, with local WCCG adaptations), the crew spins a two-hour high-energy mix of top hits, throwbacks, and surprise artist appearances, perfect for party pre-games or chill sessions—check WCCG for Fayetteville-specific slots.
Since launching in its current syndicated form around 2020 (building on Kev’s afternoon slot at REAL 92.3 LA since 2018), the show has consistently topped ratings in key demos, hitting #1 in Los Angeles nights shortly after debut and expanding to new cities amid rapid growth. On WCCG 104.5 FM, it fits seamlessly into the station’s Hip-Hop and R&B lineup, bridging the night with morning prep shows for that non-stop urban pulse. It’s more than radio—it’s a cultural checkpoint for hip-hop fans craving authenticity in an oversaturated space, where Kev’s Phoenix roots and 15+ years grinding through Vegas, Tampa, and beyond inform every spin. Married to Esmeralda with two kids, Kev keeps it grounded, often weaving family anecdotes into the mix, while the team’s chemistry (Kev’s DJ expertise + James’s comedy + Sam’s production) creates that rare “stupid fun” vibe that keeps listeners locked in. Whether you’re commuting the red-eye, posted up, or just needing a laugh before dawn, The Bootleg Kev Show on WCCG 104.5 FM is the overnight ritual that reminds you why hip-hop radio still rules—turn it up, call in (910-222-1045), and join the takeover.
Bootleg Kev (Kevin Diaz)
Bootleg Kev, born Kevin Diaz on September 2, 1985, in Phoenix, Arizona, is one of the most respected and connected personalities in Hip-Hop radio. He’s the host and namesake of the nationally syndicated Bootleg Kev Show. Raised in a Mexican-American household, Kev fell in love with hip-hop early, sneaking into clubs at 16 and building relationships with artists before he ever touched a mic. He started his career in 2006 at Power 98.3 in Phoenix, then moved through Vegas (Hot 97.5), Tampa (WiLD 94.1), and landed in Los Angeles at REAL 92.3 in 2018, where his afternoon show quickly became a destination for exclusive interviews and viral freestyles. In 2020, Premiere Networks syndicated the Bootleg Kev Show nationwide, now heard on over 80 stations including LA, Miami, Phoenix, San Diego, and Fayetteville’s WCCG 104.5 (12AM–6AM slot).
Known for having the best artist relationships in the game, Kev has secured legendary sit-downs and freestyles from Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, 21 Savage, Megan Thee Stallion, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, and countless others, many of which have racked up millions of views on YouTube. His laid-back but no-BS interview style gets artists to open up like nowhere else. Married to Esmeralda and father of two, Kev still reps Phoenix hard and remains one of the few radio hosts who truly “eats, sleeps, and breathes” the culture every single day.
James Andre Jefferson Jr.
James Andre Jefferson Jr. is the hilarious co-host and resident comedian on The Bootleg Kev Show. A Los Angeles-based stand-up comic and viral content creator, James exploded on social media with his spot-on celebrity impressions (especially Diddy, Kanye, and Kevin Hart) and unfiltered commentary on pop culture. His “man on the street” style videos have millions of views across TikTok and Instagram, leading to appearances on Wild ‘N Out, All Def Comedy, and Kev bringing him aboard full-time. On the show, James is the chaotic energy: roasting callers, breaking down the wildest headlines, and delivering laugh-out-loud takes that keep the overnight shift lit. His chemistry with Kev is pure comedy gold, making even the slowest 3AM hour feel like a live comedy special.
