Incognito (Jared ‘Incognito’ McGriff)
Incognito, born Jared McGriff in 1985 in Columbus, Georgia, is a dynamic American radio personality, host, and media entrepreneur whose “Play Hard, Work Harder” mantra has propelled him from a teenage caller to a nationally syndicated powerhouse in urban radio. Raised in a military family, young Jared discovered his passion for music early, drawing inspiration from Southern hip-hop icons like C-Murder—whose track “Ride on Dem Bustas” inspired his alias “Incognito,” meaning concealed identity, which he adopted for his low-key yet magnetic on-air presence.
His career sparked at 16 when frequent calls to Columbus’s Foxie 105 (WFXE-FM) to shout out his high school caught the ear of Program Director Michael Soul, landing him his first gig. Balancing radio with a job at a music retail store, Incognito honed his skills in production and wordplay—skills sharpened by his father’s dictionary challenges—before a brief hiatus to earn a degree in Business Administration from a Charlotte, North Carolina, institution. Relocating to the Midwest in 2015, he dominated Ohio’s airwaves across Urban One stations (WCKX-Columbus, WIZF-Cincinnati, WENZ-Cleveland), where his night show Posted on the Corner quickly became the #1-rated program in Cleveland and Cincinnati, breaking records with its interactive format.
By March 2020—amid the pandemic—Posted on the Corner expanded nationally via Reach Media (Urban One), adding markets like Raleigh’s K97.5, Atlanta’s Hot 107.9, Detroit’s Hot 107.5, and Indianapolis’s Hot 96.3, boosting ratings in each and now syndicating in over 20 cities. Based in Atlanta since the expansion, Incognito co-hosts the high-energy weeknight show (7PM-12AM ET) with DJ Misses, featuring segments like Top 7 Countdown, Trivia, and Trending on the Timeline that make listeners the “star.” A community advocate, he champions underserved families through market visits and initiatives, while his personal life made headlines as the boyfriend of Real Housewives of Potomac star Mia Thornton since 2023, blending his private persona with public romance. At 40, Incognito’s empire-building—from $100 weekly gigs to national dominance—embodies resilience, with eyes on endorsements and further growth in hip-hop media.
